Bus Sing-along Reunion!

In an astounding turn of events, some friends and I were reunited with a group of people we had met on a late night bus ride three months ago. And we found each other through Queen, as we did in the past. Allow me to explain:

After a raucous Purim party, Paul, Noam, Eli and I were riding home in our costumes. After nearing Lawrence Avenue, a group of students across from us began to sing some songs, including Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’. We joined them and made it a foot-stomping, fist-pumping affair of the likes that had never been seen.

Three months later, I was riding the same route, along with Eli, Noam, and the Moe when we decided to sing some ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ on the packed bus in order to relive the fond memory of the sing-along. A voice burst through crowded space, joining us. The same group that had initiated the song three months ago were on our bus! Eli approached them, and they revealed that they still remembered the costumes Noam and I had worn on that fateful night (Archie and Jughead).

Public transit is not just a tool for commuters and crazed drunks to move from point A to point B. It can provide an opportunity for people connect to fellow travelers through song.
