CHAT is no more
Guess what, ya'll? CHAT, a.k.a the Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto, is no more.
The school has been around for 46 years, and now it has a new name. It is now called TanenbaumCHAT.
Thanks to the continuing generosity of the esteemed Dr. Anne Tanenbaum, the school has decided to begin the 2006 academic year with a new name.
I think it is a bad move. While the school's mega tuition continues to skyrocket (it is now at $15, 700 CDN per year - enough to put a student through 3 years of an Ontario university), the school has striven to promote itself as an ideal choice for Jewish highschool students. But with a an aurally displeasing name such as TanenbaumCHAT, the school will not sound as appealing as it should.
Is a name important when it comes to education, or is the reputation of a school all that matters? Post whatever you like in the comment box, I still think CHAT's new name is terrible.

Thank goodness it wasn't called LipshitzCHAT or GoldwasserCHAT! It could have been worse.
Well, those striving for the ultamite anagram should be discussing TCS (Tannenbaum CHAT South) and the slighly less popular (though arguably better) TCN (Tannenbaum CHAT North) These could also serve as short form "Thanks (instert name here" for hopefull future guests at the campuses: Charlie Sheen and Chuck Norris
I'm sorry Avi, but I couldn't let this one go:
My mother is native to the South, and I lived there too, and so that is how I know that the contraction is actually Y'ALL, and not YA'LL.
As in "you all". Interestingly, both plural and singular.
I would like to note that Tamara stole my sayings about the school. I kinda googled in the new name to see what would happen, and ended up here. Ya, I hate the new name, it's just so the Tanenbaums can have their names plastered all over the place. It doesn't give a uniqueness to it anymore. It also takes more air to say the name. People still call it CHAT, and it should forever be known as CHAT/R
