The Star of David

Dmitriy "Star of David" Salita is a Jewish boxer in NYC and he's also a subscriber to my Youtube video feed! In the clip below, Matisyahu sings while leading Dmitriy into the ring!

With 10 knockouts in his first 13 fights, the 'Star of David' is on his way to the big time. ESPN has a spotlight video on him that can be viewed here.

Jewschool.com reports that things are about to change for the underappreciated fighter. He may soon "rise above his status as junior welterweight champion". He has gone undefeated for a long time and it looks like he is going to get a shot at the big time.

All Around the World

The map you see above represents all the locations accessing this blog within the last 24 hours. Hi Pakistan. Thanks for visiting.

Some people say blogging is stupid because no-one reads these damned things. Well my records show me that this site has a bunch of daily readers (whether I've posted or not) and many stick around for a few minutes. Some even dig through the archives.

I get my real kicks writing for the Comic Book Bin where articles get 150 000 readers on a monthly basis. But this site represents something else. What is that you may ask? You'll have to go back to May 2005 to find out.

From the Vault: Dusting off the ol' HardDrive

Hey, we haven't had a "From the Vault" feature at the Shul since May 2006! It's about time for a new one. The Shul of Rock Vault is bursting with goodies, so here's a tiny peek at some of the treasures. But first, the Vault intro ---

Every now and then "From the Vault" will pop up, displaying interesting elements from the past that I never got around to blogging for reasons I will likely never be able to explain. They are all of some interest, and it will mainly be comprised of cool photos, ancient text, and vintage vids.

Pitching Lucas

This award winning fan-film was hand picked by George Lucas as the winner of the coveted "George Lucas Selects Award". It's too damn funny.

When a team of cheeseball television executives pitch Lucas some "terrific" ideas for his upcoming Star Wars series, we get a glimpse at the director's dark side.

New S of R feature!

We've already got blazing hot posts, original videos and great pics. The Shul of Rock Archive is bursting with nearly two years of content. We even carry the local Toronto weather. So what's next? Shabbat times!

For those of you out of the loop, the weekend is a Jewish invention. Shabbat, or Shabbos as I prefer to pronounce it, is the weekly sabbath on which Jews rest in commemoration of G-d 'resting' after the act of Creation. Learn more about it here.

Anyhoo, just scroll down whenever you are at the Shul and you'll find the latest start time for Shabbat tucked above the 'links' and below the 'weather'. Enjoy!
