Joey and Eleanore Engaged to Wed

TORONTO (Reuters) - All it took was a package of M&Ms, a ring, and, oh yes, love, and Joey made what many experts are calling "The best decision of his life".

Having met Eleanore at the Community Hebrew Academy of Toronto, Joey and Eleanore stayed in contact over the years as Joey made aliyah (moved to Israel), and served in the Israel Defense Forces. Their friendship blossomed into a continent spanning relationship with roots in Canada, Israel, and even South America.

Now, engaged to wed, the two look forward to sharing their lives together in Israel.

*********

Visitors to the Shul of Rock will recall that Joey is also known on this site as G.I. Joey. Asked for his opinion on the recent engagement, Shul of Rock's resident love advice columnist, Dr. Love, had the following remark: "Mazel Tov!!!!"

Eleanore could not resist those dimples. Can you blame her?

Internet Censorship - How to get around it

I wrote about Iranian internet access and censorship one year before the current crisis in which the Iranian government is clamping down on its use. There is social unrest as the Iranian presidential elections seem to have been more selection than election, and as citizens attempt to communicate concerns and civil unrest to the world, Iran is attempting to hamper access.

Luckily, the cat is already out of the bag. A connected populace is not going back to the dark ages, and young people have been figuring out innovative ways of staying one step ahead of the censors. The same actions are occurring in China, where the government has built an enormous infrastructure surrounding the censorship of the internet.

If you are accessing this blog post from inside Iran, China, or another state run by an oppressive regime, I urge you to read on.

To better surf the internet, and search key terms which may be blocked from you - use a proxy server. It allows you to surf undetected - and many are available as some get blocked by your government. This is also handy for Canadians and Americans, who will likely suffer a loss of privacy as new pending legislation will allow local police forces to access your private information from your internet provider.
